COMMUNITY ACCESSIBILITY

The focus of this project is to increase inclusion in generic community events, functions and civic opportunities for Pennsylvanian citizens with disabilities. Through a community-based approach, the grantee will work with a variety of entities to improve the physical accessibility of locations throughout state. They will strive to break down stereotypes and improve the perceptions and attitudes of persons with disabilities in hopes of creating a more disability friendly community. By partnering with local businesses, organizations, community event organizers, recreation groups and destinations, government offices, and local municipalities, the grantee will provide its partners with site surveys, reports, and recommendations to improve their accessibility. The project will develop a fully accessible website resource. It will act as a hub for information, resources, and training materials to help other entities improve the accessibility of their locations.
